In fitness context, special individuals refers to groups of people who may have unique needs, considerations, or limitations that require specialized attention during physical activities.
The term applies to senior citizens (geriatrics) and patients with specific health conditions. Among them are individuals with transient condition such as pregnant women and people who are in post injury / rehabilitative period. Therefore, training special population requires individually designed programs and certain extent of adaptive modification to address different individual needs.
Generally, the aim of fitness practice for special population is to improve overall well-being as well as to preserve and restore physical function through adaptive routines.
